John Brooks
While still in High School, and Co-Captain of his wrestling team, John Brooks found himself with no wheels, eking out a hardscrabble existence on the dusty backroads of rural Michigan. His good friend, Wendell Penrod told him about a car that was for sale, that might fit his budget. A 1967 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. Black and Forest Green paint, with “custom” lace details. Ran rough as hell and smoked a little, but the price was right… $200.00 total… financing was available (and necessary), $50.00 a week cash for 4 weeks… no interest… sold! At 17 years of age, John Brooks had just bought his first Cadillac from Wendell’s parents.
That $200.00 hunk of Detroit steel lit a fire that still burns today.
John Brooks has led an interesting and well-traveled life. Originally trained as a welder, he has enjoyed gainful employment as as a woodcutter, cabinetmaker, factory worker, bodyguard, professional boxing manager and cornerman as well as a door-to-door salesman and motivational speaker.
John is a voracious reader whose current interests include Badass Cadillacs, old Harleys and Bobbers, Gracie JiJitsu, mixed martial arts, boxing, Mac computing, graphic design, good music and guitar strumming. He has called Reno, Nevada home since 1987.
When John’s not busy collecting, tinkering with and admiring “Badass Cadillacs”, he supports his hobbies and his five children as President and founder of Sierra Solutions, a traveling direct sales company that distributes environmentally safe, low impact chemical cleaning products to homes, businesses and industrial concerns.
